New Classes

Chiles has spent too much time with the new baby and neglected the website, but new classes start this week. Beginning classes Tuesdays (7-8) and Thursdays (6:30-7:30). We are starting a new blues class tonight, 8-9. Or join us on Thursday for our intermediate class, 7:30-8:30.

As always, we have our blues dance on Tuesdays 9-11 and our swing dance on Thursdays 8:30-11.

Join us for an all-night blues party with some of the best DJs in the mid-Atlantic area! These are some of the most talented, most-loved blues DJs around – and they’re coming together to bring you a truly amazing night of dancing.

Black & White Dance

Saturday, June 12 we’re having a black & white party – so break out your favorite black and white attire (as casual or as fancy as you like) and join us for a great night of dancing at the Mill! It’s birthday week for both Diana and Chiles, so we’re celebrating in style! Guitarist Jim Stephanson’s band, Jimmy & the Blue Dogs, will be playing some great swing and blues tunes for you – these guys can really play, and they’ll keep you up and dancing straight through till midnight. As always, we’ll have snacks and drinks up in the balcony lounge, but feel free to bring something festive to share.

Free beginner lesson from 8-9pm; dancing from 9pm-midnight

Andrew Sutton Weekend

Andrew Sutton is here and the weekend starts tonight with the Baltimore Challenge at 7. If you can’t make it for the class, join us for social dancing tonight from 8:30-11:00 (or later). Andrew will be spinning some favorite tunes. Don’t miss this opportunity to dance to his music and dance with him.

Tomorrow night, New Legacy Jazz Band will be playing for us again. Always one of our favorites, you don’t want to miss them and another opportunity to dance with Andrew. Beginner lesson 8-9pm, New Legacy will be playing 9-midnight.

There is still room in all of the workshops. For the Challenge tonight, you need a partner, but for the other classes you don’t. The classes are even right now and we want to keep it that way, so show up early if you want to get in.

After the weekend is over, check out our current class schedule. We are now offering student rates for all of our classes, $65 for 8 week classes, $35 for 4 week classes.

May & June Class Schedule, Student Rates

Great news for students. We are now offering student rates, essentially 2/3 the regular rate for our classes, but in easily managed dollar amounts. For our 8-week classes, the student rate is now $65 and the 4-week classes are $35. For everyone else, the good news is that our rates are staying the same as they have been for over 5 years.

In May, our Tuesday feature class (8-9 pm) will be Blues. Often times, the blues classes draw people with limited availability, so we will be structuring the classes to be accessible to drop-ins, but there will be some review week to week.

Starting June 3, join us for 4 weeks of Aerials. For the Aerials class, a partner is required, so find one early. Each week will feature a different aerial (or aerials). Come out & fly high!

Feb. 11 Snow Announcement

Classes and the swing dance are canceled for tonight. As many of you are aware, the roads leading in to the studio can be a little dicey in the snow & ice. Most of the roads are clear enough to get in to the studio, but with freezing temperatures returning about 6 o’clock, we don’t feel it is in the best interests of safety to have the classes/dance tonight. Make up for all the missed dancing Saturday night with the Westside Jazz Coalition! Beginning lesson 8-9, band plays 9-midnight.

New Year, New Classes

Get your new year started right! We have new classes starting January 5 & 7. For our Tuesday classes, the Beginner 1 lesson is from 7-8 and will have you dancing in no time. Following that is the Dips & Tricks class, 8-9. Stick around after class for our blues dance, 9-11, to practice, perfect, and just have fun with your new moves .

Our Thursday schedule is a Beginner 2 class, 6:30-7:30 (Beg. 1 or equivalent is a pre-requisite) followed by our Intermediate C class, 7:30-8:30. As always, the classes will be followed by the weekly swing dance, 8:30-11:00.

Join us January 9th for our first band dance of the new year with one of our favorites, New Legacy Jazz Band. Check them out online http://newlegacyjazzband.com/, then come January 9th to experience them live. Basic swing lesson 8-9, then New Legacy plays 9-midnight.
